In a bid to introduce and invite Egypt’s most prominent brands in the bakery, confectionery and snacks industries to participate in the world’s leading trade fair, iba held a one-day seminar-packed event at Cairo’s Semiramis Intercontinental Hotel on the 28th of March, 2018.
In attendance were representatives of the various German and Egyptian F&B sectors, brand owners and heads of industry such as the CEO of the German Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Christoph Angerbauer, chairman of the Food Industries, Ashraf El Gazayerli, president of the German Bakers’ Confederation, Michael Wippler, director of Monginis Foods, Adnan Khorakiwala, general manager of EgyDairy, Ahmed Nabil, and GACIC Trade Fair Representative, Rana Atef.
Some of the presentation topics tackled, related to Egypt’s bakery and confectionery industry and the various points of entry, the development of the bakery ingredients sector in Egypt, as well as a number of success stories related to popular local brands and companies.
In addressing some of the focal points related to the German bread industry to the attendees, Michael Wippler, President of the German Bakers’ Confederation said, “I think there are four main trends in the bakery and confectionery industry in Germany. The key issues are: new diet trends and the impact of these for bakers, bread as a particularly healthy food, machines that save energy and improve quality at the same time, and greater regionality as a success factor in countering local competition’.
Also speaking at the event, Nadja Düll, project coordinator at iba explained, “It is our aim to consolidate iba’s leading position in the bakery, confectionery and snack segment. After all, the trade fair not only has an eye on national, i.e. German, trends in the industry, but the relevant demands for bakers and confectioners at the global level and across continents are also of great interest to us – regardless of business size.”
The world’s leading trade fair, iba, for bakery, confectionary and snacks, will take place at the Fairground Munich, Germany from 15 – 20 September 2018. It will be the venue for some 1,100 exhibitors from 45 countries showcasing their offerings to visitors from 150+ countries. The six day event, which first launched in 1949, is held every three years and covers the complete spectrum of the food industry’s bakery segment.
It showcases an endless variety of trends and new products and depicts value creation in a more complete way than any other trade fair.
