A circular issued to hotels and restaurants in Dubai by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has advised that licensed venues must refrain from serving alcohol as of 6.30 pm on Friday, August 9 to 7.30pm on Saturday, August 10, before Arafat Day, which will be the first of four public holiday dates in celebration of Eid Al Adha. No alcohol will be served across Dubai and the UAE for 25 hours including hotels. No alcohol will also be displayed in bars and restaurants and some outlets will be closed that offer live entertainment.

No such announcement has been made by Abu Dhabi since the government announced in June 2018 that licensed outlets are permitted to continue selling alcohol on all religious occasions.
