The economic situation has long been weighing heavily on the Lebanese hospitality sector, especially after the Beirut explosion. Things took a turn for the worse with the Covid-19 lockdown.

Tony Ramy, president of the Syndicate of Owners of Restaurants, Cafés, Night-Clubs and Pastries in Lebanon, has urged his fellow stakeholders to abide by the Covid-19 safety guidelines for the sake of the hospitality sector.

“It is our chance to be collectively responsible and convey a positive image to local and foreign customers, assuring them that the hospitality sector isn’t contributing to the increase in Covid-19 cases. We also urge the authorities to be strict and prosecute violators from all regions. No one should be above the law.

We count on our fellow hospitality professionals, their awareness and sense of responsibility to honor their pledge to ensure the safety of their clients. This is our chance; its success rests on the shoulders of each one of us,” stated Ramy.
