Few brands carry the weight of tradition quite like Hallab 1881. Marc Haddad, CEO of Hallab 1881 Kasr El Helou, shares how every bite of the brand tells a story, one that begins in Tripoli and travels far beyond borders.
How did Hallab 1881 start?
Founded by Mahmoud Hallab in Tripoli, Lebanon, in 1881, the business began with a passion for crafting sweets and quickly built a lasting reputation. Over the decades, Hallab 1881 Kasr El Helou grew into a benchmark for Oriental sweets across generations and communities. The legacy was further strengthened by Hajj Abdul Rahman Hallab, whose unwavering commitment to excellence and authentic hospitality helped shape the brand’s identity. With a visionary spirit, he upheld Tripolitan generosity and refused to compromise on quality—a principle that became a family tradition. His motto, “Do it perfectly, or don’t do it at all,” continues to drive Hallab’s enduring success.
Were you expecting Hallab 1881 to succeed at the international level?
From the very beginning, we believed our authentic Lebanese sweets could resonate globally, yet our international success has been humbling. Since 1881, our commitment to tradition and excellence, reflected in ISO certifications and offerings, has consistently driven regional and global expansion.
