Spinneys expands into Iraq with two new stores

Gray Mackenzie Retail Lebanon Group announces Spinneys’ expansion into Iraq with two new stores.  The first store will open in the iconic Iraq Mall during the first quarter of 2026. The second will follow shortly at Baghdad Boulevard.

Spanning over 7,000 square meters, the Iraq Mall flagship store will introduce Spinneys’ premium retail experience to Iraqi consumers. It will combine freshness, high-quality products and exceptional service under one roof.

As Iraq’s largest shopping destination, Iraq Mall provides the perfect platform for expansion. Moreover, it hosts top global and regional brands. Consequently, it attracts millions of visitors annually.

With Iraq’s dynamic economy and growing demand for modern retail, this move demonstrates Gray Mackenzie’s confidence in the market. Furthermore, it reflects the company’s commitment to raising grocery retail standards across the country.

Hassan Ezzeldine, Chairman of Gray Mackenzie Retail Lebanon Group, said:
“Our entry into Iraq naturally follows Spinneys’ growth in the region. We see strong potential and aim to deliver a fresh, high-quality customer-focused retail experience. Additionally, we seek to create value through local partnerships, employment opportunities and long-term community investment.”

From its early beginnings to its growing regional footprint, Gray Mackenzie continues to expand responsibly. It prioritizes trusted brands, local partnerships and meaningful jobs in every market it enters.

As Spinneys prepares to open its doors, the team eagerly anticipates welcoming new customers. Ultimately, it aims to contribute significantly to Iraq’s modern retail landscape.
