Empathetic leadership with Marta Martin, hotel manager at Rosewood Doha

Marta Martin - Hotel Manager

Doha’s vibrant hospitality scene blends culture and innovation. Marta Martin, hotel manager at Rosewood Doha, tells us more about Qatar’s luxury hospitality scene and leading with empathy and purpose.

As a female hotel manager in Doha, how have you navigated leadership in a traditionally male-dominated industry and what unique perspectives do you bring to the role?

Leadership, to me, begins with empathy, cultural awareness and the consistent ability to connect meaningfully across diverse backgrounds and experiences. Over the years, my global journey has revealed that true inclusion is not a strategy. In fact, it is a deeply held mindset. At Rosewood Doha, I lead by listening first, then making space for diverse voices to feel seen, heard and valued. Consequently, I strive to cultivate a culture where both intuition and excellence are encouraged, supported and practiced in equal measure. Moreover, being a woman adds dimension to how I build trust, foster relationships and craft experiences rich with depth and intention.

How would you describe the evolution of Doha’s hospitality sector over the past few years?

Doha has transformed into a dynamic destination, where hospitality now emphasizes curated experiences instead of traditional notions of luxury alone. As a result, the city has embraced storytelling, cultural identity, and innovation to attract travelers seeking deeper, more meaningful journeys. Furthermore, there is a rising focus on authenticity and placemaking, with local heritage integrated into design, cuisine and personalized service. Amid this evolution, Rosewood Doha arrives at a pivotal moment, shaping a new narrative of refined, intentional, and art-driven hospitality. Ultimately, the hotel reflects both Qatar’s deep-rooted traditions and its bold, forward-looking vision for modern luxury and immersive cultural engagement.

What hospitality trends are currently shaping guest expectations in Doha?

Today’s guests increasingly seek connection through personalized service, meaningful design and wellness experiences that nourish far beyond the physical level. Consequently, luxury must now be as thoughtful and intentional as it is visually impressive, immersive and emotionally satisfying. Moreover, sustainability, cultural immersion and emotional resonance are no longer optional features, they have become core expectations.

At Rosewood Doha, we respond with locally inspired programming, purpose-driven culinary philosophy and Asaya’s integrative, transformative approach to holistic wellness. Ultimately, guests want to feel part of something genuine and we welcome them with warmth and care.

With the rise of cultural and wellness tourism in the region, how is Doha positioning itself to attract new visitor segments?

Doha is embracing its cultural richness and steadily emerging as a soulful, surprising destination for thoughtful, mindful global travelers today. Furthermore, world-class museums, innovative wellness initiatives and homegrown creativity continue to capture the imagination of curious visitors seeking authenticity. At Rosewood Doha, we reflect this evolving spirit through members-only wellness, female-led culinary stories and local and regional artist partnerships. Therefore, we invite guests to discover Doha through a lens of intention where luxury becomes personal, expressive and deeply connected to the place.

Looking ahead to 2026, what are your predictions for Doha’s hospitality industry?

We will see a shift toward conscious luxury, where service is not only polished but deeply purposeful and meaningful for guests. Moreover, Doha will be recognized not just for its skyline but for the rich stories and culture it proudly shares. Hotels will evolve into cultural touchpoints, providing immersive, locally grounded experiences that truly connect visitors to the destination. I believe the city will continue blending heritage and innovation, attracting guests who seek authenticity, wellness and meaningful connection.

At Rosewood Doha, we are preparing for this future by creating a community, not just a hotel, where every moment feels artfully considered. Ultimately, every guest becomes part of the narrative, experiencing hospitality that reflects both place and purpose in every detail.
