Chateau Kefraya’s Winning Spirit


To celebrate the outstanding and record rating of 93/100 obtained by Château Kefraya COMTE DE M 2012 by Robert Parker, nicknamed the ‘Wine Pope’, a vertical tasting took place at Sursock’s restaurant museum. That vintage was born from the desire to pay a tribute to the Phoenicians who, more than 4,000 years ago used to grow their vineyards and spread wine culture around the entire Mediterranean Sea, even reaching the Port of Marseille in France. Highlighting the event, Edouard Kosremelli, the company’s general manager said, “Château Kefraya has selected the best ‘micro-terroirs’ of the property located at an altitude of 1,100 meters. This wine is primarily composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes. Aged up to 24 months in French oak barrels, it has a dark purple color due to the complex bouquet of black fruits and cedar wood. It is smooth on the palate with elegant and melted tannins.”

Technical Director and Oenologist at Château Kefraya, Fabrice Guiberteau, revealed some of the key factors behind the brand’s 2012 success clarifying, “COMTE DE M is the result of precision and the choice of micro-terroirs within the same plot of land. This particular vintage perfectly embodies and expresses Château Kefraya vision, proof that it is possible to make an entirely new wine that belongs to some of the world’s greatest in the same category.”

Wine Specialist, M.Sc. Agro Economist and Owner of the Wine Teller, Najib Moutran lent further insight on the matter explaining, “This particular vintage is the result of a beautifully-balanced and richly-concentrated wine that came from grape vines over 50 years old, which is where the real aging process actually begins. It is a wine that has tremendous potential and holds great promise.”
