IHG Signs Holiday Inn Express in Egypt’s new capital, opening set for 2030

IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has partnered with Samco Holding for Development to expand its portfolio in Egypt. The agreement introduces Holiday Inn Express to Cairo’s New Administrative Capital, marking a significant brand debut in the country. The hotel opens in 2030.

This collaboration reflects IHG’s ongoing strategy to grow in high-potential markets aligned with Egypt’s long-term tourism and development goals.

Holiday Inn Express Cairo New Capital will feature 125 guest rooms with smart, streamlined services for travelers. Moreover, the hotel will showcase the brand’s innovative Generation 5 design, combining lifestyle elements with business efficiency and modern comfort. As a result, it will offer a flexible and productive environment for guests to rest, recharge and stay connected during their stay. This makes it ideal for both business and leisure travelers seeking a consistent, value-driven experience in Egypt’s newest urban center.

Importantly, the hotel will be located in “The Five,” a mixed-use development in the heart of the New Administrative Capital. In addition, the site offers proximity to government ministries, commercial hubs, schools, hospitals, parks, and major cultural destinations.  Haitham Mattar, managing director, India, Middle East & Africa at IHG Hotels & Resorts, stated: “Egypt is an important market for us in the region, and we are delighted to be a part of and contribute to the economic growth of the country. The signing of this partnership with Samco Asset Management to bring Holiday Inn Express to the New Administrative Capital is aligned with our strategy of expanding in key growth cities, and the New Administrative Capital is a landmark opportunity for business, government and tourism.”

He added: “This new hotel complements our strong pipeline in Cairo and reinforces our support for Egypt’s national tourism growth ambitions.”

Similarly, Samco’s chairman expressed confidence in the brand’s ability to elevate hospitality standards and enhance their “The Five” development vision.

This marks another major milestone for IHG’s presence in Egypt, with 21 more hotels planned in the coming years.
