IHG expands in Egypt by signing Holiday Inn New Assiut Asayla

IHG Hotels & Resorts signed a Management Agreement with Mabany Edris, a well-known real estate owner and developer in Egypt, to open Holiday Inn New Assiut Asayla.

Once complete, the hotel will be IHG’s third Holiday Inn hotel in Egypt, joining Holiday Inn Cairo Maadi and Holiday Inn Cairo – Citystars. Expected to open in January 2024, the 157-room property will be located close to the city of Assiut along the banks of the Nile River.

Holiday Inn New Assiut Asayla will feature four meeting rooms, a ballroom, a spa, a fitness center and a pool. Furthermore, there will also be multiple dining options offering an extensive selection of food and beverages for guests to enjoy.

IHG has a strong legacy in Egypt, having opened its first hotel in the 1980s. It currently operates over 2,000 rooms and has more than 800 in the pipeline, across its different brands.

The announcement follows several high-profile signings across IHG’s luxury and lifestyle, premium, essentials and suites collections, underscoring the company’s progressive expansion plans across the MEA region.

The signing strengthens IHG’s mainstream portfolio in MEA, in line with demands across key markets in the region.
