Fruitop’s initiative of offering the Saudi market fresh fruit from Greece

The European Project ‘Fruitop’ was held this November in Jeddah’s Radisson Blu and attended by representatives from major fresh fruit importing companies, wholesalers, retailers, as well as the media. Also present at the event were two official representatives from the Greek authorities in Jeddah, Evgenios Kalpyris, General Consul and Nikolas Thomopoulos, Head of Helllenic Economic and Trade Affairs.

In his speech, the event’s main speaker Panagiotis Orfanos from the Association of Producers emphasized the role the import-export of fresh fruits from Greece plays. He then highlighted the necessity of following the integrated management and certification system in the cultivation and production procedure of fruits. This was followed with a word by Motasem Abdullah Abuzinadah, vice president of fruits and the vegetable wholesale market in Jeddah on how important the European fresh fruits produced in Greece is in increasing the company’s Saudi Arabian market share.
