THE RIG KSA slated to be the ultimate adventure tourism destination

THE RIG KSA PROJECT TOURISM ATTRACTION

Slated to redefine sea sports and leisure THE RIG is set to grace the Arabian Gulf on an offshore platform.

THE RIG is developed by the Oil Park Development Company (OPDC), a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund. Notably, the project aligns with Vision 2030, contributing to tourism sector growth. Furthermore, it opens employment opportunities and economic diversification.

Inspired by offshore oil platforms, THE RIG also seeks to celebrate Saudi Arabia’s rich oil and gas heritage. Additionally, it offers a unique hospitality and adventure experience across a vast 300,000 square meters. Furthermore, it is strategically located 40 kilometers from the coastline, near Al Juraid Island and Berri Oil Field. Moreover, it aims to attract over 900,000 annual visitors by 2032.

Key highlights of THE RIG

THE RIG promises a wide range of hospitality, leisure and entertainment options, including:

  • Three hotels totaling 800 rooms, as well as11 restaurants, an extreme sports and adventure park, a world-class marina and helipads.
  • Water activities, including a diving center, amusement park, splash park, e-sports center, immersive theater and multipurpose arena.
  • Cultural celebration of Saudi Arabia’s oil and gas heritage.

The project is led by Raed N. Bakhrji, CEO of the Oil Park Development Company. With two decades in oil and gas, he blends industry expertise with a passion for the future of adventure tourism. In a statement, he said: “THE RIG is expected to attract over 900,000 annual visitors by 2032. Notably, the project appeals to a wide range of domestic, regional and international audiences.”

THE RIG will set new standards in adventure tourism. Furthermore, it aims to contribute significantly to Saudi Arabia’s position as a global tourism hub. The masterplan launch marks a significant milestone in the project’s journey.
