On the couch with F&B enthusiast Andre Alexy, GM of Amazónico Dubai

As an ambitious F&B enthusiast with an insatiable appetite for traveling and exploring new cultures, cuisines and concepts, Andre Alexy has brought his passion to life with Amazónico Dubai. We sat down with the restaurateur to find out what makes Amazonico a go-to culinary destination.

How would you describe your professional journey?
I have been working in the hospitality industry for 15 years and have spent most of this time away from my hometown of Munich. Over the course of my professional career, I’ve had the chance to work alongside inspirational leaders and explore many different markets, concepts and brands from across the world. These unique experiences have provided me with a wealth of knowledge, and I am very grateful for what I have learned and can apply in my new journey with Amazonico.

How do you plan to further solidify Amazonico as the go-to destination?
Amazonico is a well-established venue in Dubai, and I believe it is about evolution instead of revolution. The team is solid and has been carefully selected and trained to guarantee a seamless and fun experience for each guest entering the beautiful venue. There are some activities in the pipeline that will, yet again, draw attention to Amazonico. We recently launched our new weekend parilla “Tropicalia” and are working on a fantastic lineup of international artists and DJs to perform in our lounge and on the rooftop, which will reopen on October 1, 2023.

What is your assessment of the restaurant scene in UAE?
Dubai is an ever-evolving market that offers its residents and visitors more concepts than one can dream of. With numerous restaurants opening each month, some believe that the market has become oversaturated. Nevertheless, looking at Dubai’s ambitious plans to grow its population and increase the number of tourists, it’s great to see the influx of fantastic concepts from all over the world. That being said, competition is growing rapidly, and it is inevitable that we have to evolve in what we do and keep Amazonico an exciting go-to destination.

Looking ahead, what can we expect from Amazonico?
Amazonico is a unique and sought-after concept that will slowly find its place and be successful on the international scene. Born in Madrid, it has so far found a home in London and Dubai. However, expansion plans for Europe and the Middle East are in the pipeline for 2024.
It is exciting to witness growing demand for the brand, and people are eager to see it expand beyond the three venues that are already operating.
