On the pulse of technology with Ashish Tulsian, co-founder and CEO of Restroworks

Ashish Tulsian co-founded Restroworks

With decades of tech experience across continents, Ashish Tulsian co-founded Restroworks, a leading cloud-first technology platform for restaurants. In an exclusive interview, the accomplished CEO tells us about the company and the power of the services being offered.

Can you provide an overview of your company and its reach in the restaurant industry?

We are a global restaurant tech company that operates a platform catering to the needs of restaurant chains, predominantly enterprises. Furthermore, we collaborate with around 20,000 restaurants spanning 50 countries, with a significant focus on the GCC region, notably Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman.

What sets your company apart from others in the market?

In the past, the restaurant industry enjoyed high margins. However, in recent years, efficiency has become crucial. Our goal is to bring efficiency to restaurant operations. Furthermore, we view ourselves not just as more than just a tech product company, as we also offer solutions that deliver bottom-line efficiency to restaurants through technology.

Can you name some of your prominent clients globally and regionally?

Globally, we collaborate with major brands like Subway, Carl’s Jr, Denny’s, Taco Bell and Dunkin’ Donuts. As for the region, we work with local players, such as Herfy in Saudi Arabia and Caribou Coffee in Kuwait. Notably, we enable these restaurants to expand across countries. Moreover, we help them address local challenges like currency, tax structures and compliance.

Could you share more about your background and what you bring to the company as a leader?

I am a technologist and engineer, who ventured into the restaurant business after selling a telecom company. Moreover, I bring a unique perspective, having experienced the challenges of the restaurant industry firsthand. This consequently enables me to empathize with our clients and drive meaningful changes in their operations. Furthermore, my role involves aligning our product vision with market trends. In addition, I am tasked to serve as the custodian of the company’s overall vision and direction.
