Dual-brand leadership decoded with Anders T. Dimblad, cluster GM of Banyan Tree Dubai and Delano Dubai

Anders Dimblad

Creating meaningful, experience-led destinations that resonate with today’s conscious traveler is the specialty of Anders T. Dimblad, cluster general manager of Banyan Tree Dubai and Delano Dubai. We spoke with him about dual-brand leadership apart and how luxury, purpose-driven hospitality is evolving.

How does overseeing both Banyan Tree and Delano differ from a single-property GM role?

Overseeing both Banyan Tree Dubai and Delano Dubai presents an exceptional opportunity to lead two distinct brands under one cohesive vision. Moreover, because each brand holds its own unique character, my role requires a thoughtful approach that unites both teams and operations seamlessly. Furthermore, with two properties, 11 dining venues and a state-of-the-art wellness facility, we can curate truly diverse guest experiences. As a result, I look forward to building synergy between both hotels, creating a seamless contrast that elevates and complements each brand’s identity. Ultimately, we aim to deliver the highest standards of luxury expected in Dubai while honoring the individual promises each brand represents.

As a hotelier, what are the most significant changes you’ve witnessed in luxury hospitality over the last decade?

Over the last decade, luxury hospitality has transformed dramatically, moving beyond status and grandeur to emphasize meaning, connection, purpose and emotional experience. Consequently, today’s guests expect more than flawless service; they want to feel understood, valued and emotionally engaged. Moreover, modern travelers now seek deeply personal moments, thoughtful touches, immersive cultural experiences and a genuine sense of place. With destinations increasingly accessible, global curiosity has grown; guests are eager for discoveries that feel authentic, unexpected and rooted in local culture. Importantly, Dubai has played a pivotal role in shaping this evolution, pushing boundaries not only through scale and innovation. The city continues to set benchmarks in luxury by crafting highly curated, guest-centric experiences. Furthermore, our relationship with the world has matured; wellbeing, sustainability, and mindful design are now central to how we define daily operations. Today, luxury is no longer just about aesthetics or exclusivity — it’s about meaning, care and the emotional imprint we leave behind. Both Banyan Tree Dubai and Delano Dubai have fully embraced this philosophy, embedding purpose, care and intention.

What do you believe makes a hotelier truly influential today?

An influential hotelier leads with authenticity, setting the tone through consistent, meaningful actions rather than relying solely on words. Therefore, it’s about fostering a culture where exceptional service arises naturally driven by genuine compassion, not obligation or scripted hospitality. In addition, true influence lies in the ability to evolve continuously, refining the guest experience with relevance, creativity and intentional purpose.

More importantly, it’s about igniting passion within the team, because leadership is measured by the energy and belief you inspire in others. Ultimately, when individuals feel empowered and connected to their purpose, the guest experience transcends expectations and becomes something truly unforgettable.

What advice would you give aspiring hoteliers who wish to lead at the cluster or regional level?

Leadership at a cluster or regional level extends well beyond operations; it requires deep understanding of people, places and purpose. Therefore, approach every situation with openness, honesty and humility values that strengthen relationships and build genuine, trust-based team cultures. Moreover, walk your properties often not just to manage but to observe, engage, listen and remain connected to daily realities. Take time to understand each space, connect meaningfully with the teams and stay constantly attuned to the evolving guest experience. In doing so, you’ll identify what drives top-line growth and ensure every unit meaningfully contributes to long-term profitability and brand success. This becomes even more critical when leading distinct brands like Banyan Tree Dubai and Delano Dubai, each with its unique positioning. Ultimately, lead with passion, because when leaders care deeply, their teams respond with commitment, energy and purpose. That’s when leadership becomes transformational, and the brand experience evolves into something emotionally resonant, memorable and full of lasting impact.
