1.5 million tourists in Lebanon in the first nine months of the year

The latest statistics of the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism (MoT) revealed that 1.5 million tourists visited the country during the first three quarters of 2019, a four percent increase year-on-year.

They are led by tourists coming from Europe, who accounted for over 500,000 visitor. They are followed by Arabs (over 400,000) and Americans (over 280,000).

Summer 2018 was slightly better than summer 2017, with a five percent increase in arrivals during July-August-September phase, to reach 652,658 tourists.

Worth mentioning that 2017 totaled 1.8 million tourists. Overall, 2018 witnessed a positive performance throughout the months, except for a seven percent drop during May mainly linked to the elections that took place in the country. These results were re-compensated the next month which witnessed a 12 percent peak.
