Barista Espresso partners with Spexal to empower the next generation of innovators

Barista Espresso, the leading Lebanese coffee brand renowned for its dedication to excellence has partnered with Spexal, a pioneering robotics company, to introduce a new coffee technology. The innovative and fun creation, executed by the NDU (Notre Dame University, Lebanon) students, is set to revolutionize the way people experience coffee. Exclusively active throughout the month of June, robotic creation promises to delight coffee enthusiasts and tech fanatics alike.

Barista Espresso’s unwavering commitment to innovation shines through in its collaboration with Spexal. Together, they aim to boost the development of an automated capsule coffee robot, solidifying their dedication to excellence in both the technology and F&B industries.

As an ardent supporter and sponsor of the project, Barista Espresso has contributed not only financial resources but also expertise and active participation. Their support has enabled the seamless integration of coffee and a state-of-the-art coffee machine into the automated capsule robot.

Available in its showroom in Dekwaneh- Lebanon, the innovative creation is a testament to Barista Espresso’s recognition of the remarkable efforts put forth by the NDU students involved in the project. By providing a platform to acknowledge their hard work, Barista Espresso continues to foster practical experience and empower the next generation of innovators.

In an exclusive statement for Hospitality News ME, Roy Daniel, managing partner of Barista Espresso, stated: “When two NDU students approached us for their end-of-year project, we readily offered our full support after hearing their idea. We firmly believe that the novelty of having a robot hand prepare espresso itself would be a great attraction for our showroom in Lebanon. The visual appeal of a robot serving coffee creates a unique and memorable experience. In the coming years, robots will play an increasingly significant role in the Food and Beverage sector, and it is our responsibility to embrace this progress. At Barista, we will actively focus on new and innovative ideas in the years ahead. Our goal is to find solutions that can assist coffee shop owners and restaurants in scaling up their businesses. By automating certain tasks, a robot can facilitate efficient production without a proportional increase in human labor, especially as demand grows. Additionally, a robot hand offers the advantage of consistency, which is crucial in preparing a good cup of coffee”.

Spexal, renowned for designing and implementing cutting-edge robotic systems, understands the importance of bridging the gap between academia and industry. Through their Final Year Projects for university students, Spexal offers students the unique opportunity of offering them industry-relevant knowledge and experience that is necessary to thrive in their careers. The collaboration between Spexal and NDU has been successful. Working on the automated capsule coffee robot has allowed students to apply their theoretical knowledge of robotics in a practical setting. This partnership has nurtured their growth, fostered innovation and bridged the gap between academic knowledge and real-world implementation.

Barista Espresso’s unwavering dedication to driving innovation in the industry is beautifully demonstrated through its steadfast collaboration with Spexal. Together, they are shaping the future of coffee technology, empowering the innovators of today and laying the foundation for the coffee experiences of tomorrow.
