HN exclusive: Mandarin Oriental to strengthen its foothold in the MENA region

Following the opening of Mandarin Oriental, Doha and Mandarin Oriental Jumeira in Dubai, HN had an exclusive conversation with Christoph Mares, COO of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group to discuss the chain’s upcoming plans for the region. 

He explained that Mandarin Oriental, Doha in Qatarl blends chic and contemporary design with touches of Qatari heritage.  He added: “In Dubai, Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, is the first of two properties to open in the city. We will also manage a second luxury hotel and branded residences in Dubai which is targeted to open in late 2020 and will perfectly complement our beachfront resort.”

Mares said: “Mandarin Oriental is renowned for creating unique hotels through distinctive design and a strong sense of place.” He added: “Our team comes from 64 countries, all with one shared goal, to completely delight and satisfy our guests by delivering consistently excellent service.”

He also revealed that the chain will be managing a new resort and branded residences in Muscat, the capital of Oman, which is expected to open in 2021.

“Our development strategy continues with 15 hotels and 12 residences currently under development, which are likely to become operational within the next five years,” he said.
