Egypt bets on North Sinai as next tourism frontier

North Sinai

Egypt is scaling up development across Sinai, with North Sinai emerging as a key focus for tourism and investment growth.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly is touring projects across the governorate as the government pushes to accelerate implementation and attract investors. Since 2014, Egypt has delivered 975 projects worth EGP 638 billion across Sinai, spanning infrastructure, tourism, agriculture and urban expansion. These include upgrades to airports, Arish Port and transport networks, which are expected to improve access and support tourism activity. At the heart of the plan, a 500 kilometre railway linking the Suez Canal corridor to Taba will open up the region.  Alongside this, the Arish Taba corridor will connect coastal and inland areas, making North Sinai more accessible for visitors.

With projects like the Holy Family Trail gaining attention, officials are positioning North Sinai as a new gateway for tourism growth.
