David Wilson named GM of Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah

Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah has appointed David Wilson as its new general manager.

Wilson brings more than three decades of rich commercial experience to his role, in which he will oversee operations, strategy and the implementation of operational practices.
The appointment marks Wilson’s return to Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah, where he previously held the position of general manager from 2015-2020 and helped to increase the property’s GOP by 20 percent as well as secure places on multiple global Best Hotel lists.
Previously, Wilson has managed some of the finest resorts in the Middle East, Asia, Australia and Europe, including Shangri-La, The Ritz Carlton, JW Marriott, Mandarin Oriental and Raffles properties. He returns to Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah from Emerald Palace Group, where he was VP hospitality, leading the rebranding of neighboring hotel, Raffles The Palm and Hyde Hotel in Downtown Dubai.
Having focused on the luxury hotel segment, Wilson has developed a strong background in F&B and sales, as well as a creative flair for new concepts and quality service delivery systems. His mission and passion are to create memorable and exceptional experiences for guests while ensuring the profitability and sustainability of the hotel, and he is committed to looking for new ways to innovate and improve products and services, as well as to empower and inspire team members to excel and grow.
Commenting on his new role, Wilson said: “I’m proud to be rejoining the Waldorf Astoria brand which is synonymous with luxury, elegance and sophistication, and in particular returning to a resort which holds a lot of happy memories. I’m looking forward to leading the incredible team at the resort again, as well as reconnecting with regular guests who I’ve welcomed over the years and meeting new ones too”.
Situated on the iconic Palm Jumeirah Island, the Waldorf Astoria resort boasts 319 elegant rooms and luxurious suites with views of the Palm Jumeirah and Dubai skylines, six restaurants and bars, extensive conference and banqueting facilities, a kids’ club, spa and the exclusive Pearl Club.
