Crafting exceptional guest experiences with Mehdi Zaanoun

Mehdi Zaanoun, a seasoned hospitality expert and the GM of Four Seasons Resort and Residences at The Pearl-Qatar, talks about his two decades of expertise in crafting extraordinary guest experiences through authentic and intuitive service.

What can you tell us about your professional journey?
After graduating from École Hôtelière de Lausanne, I embarked on my professional journey at the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris. Starting off as an intern, I subsequently pursued opportunities with several leading hospitality brands. During a 14-year period, I focused on advancing in food and beverage management within various international hotel groups across France, the Americas and the Middle East. In 2018, I rejoined the Four Seasons family as the general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Casablanca, a modern Moroccan seaside retreat situated a short distance from the country’s largest and most vibrant city.

How would you describe the hotel sector in Qatar?
The hotel sector in Qatar is experiencing significant growth, largely attributed to the momentum generated by the success of the FIFA World Cup. This success has led to a consistent surge in the tourism sector. Qatar has made remarkable progress in developing and enhancing its infrastructure, including new hotels, a thriving restaurant scene, world-class museums and state-of-the-art sports and entertainment facilities. These developments are aimed at accommodating the influx of visitors to the country. Furthermore, government entities are actively working to position Qatar as a premier destination for sports events, business and leisure. The goal of tripling the number of tourists by 2030 is a testament to these efforts and bodes well for the hotel sector’s growth.

In your opinion, what is it that makes the Four Seasons brand unique?
When contemplating Four Seasons, the epitome of unparalleled luxury comes to mind. This reputation is built upon creating a sense of belonging for each of our guests, consistently delivering exceptional quality and services, and prioritizing their experience as the focal point of our operations. Our commitment extends to crafting memorable visits, striving to provide luxury experiences that are both heartfelt and genuine. Achieving this necessitates nurturing our most valuable assets: the staff. Their role is pivotal in our success, and we prioritize their overall well-being in every possible aspect.

What are your plans for the property?
I am enthusiastic about leading this exceptional property situated within one of Qatar’s most exclusive communities — The Pearl-Qatar. We have invested considerable time and effort into forming a dynamic and exceptional team, alongside creating a product distinguished by exceptional design and finishes. Four Seasons Resort and Residences at The Pearl-Qatar introduces a novel way of living, offering bespoke accommodations and remarkable facilities within a 19-story vertical resort, complete with its own breathtaking private beach. In addition to catering to the elevated needs of our short-term guests, we have designed a distinct rental program catering to those considering long-term relocation to Qatar and locals seeking a new and refreshing waterfront lifestyle. Both Resort and Private Residences guests will gain entry into an exclusive international community where they can socialize at our restaurants and bars, unwind at the spa or beach and explore the myriad attractions within a leisurely stroll of this vibrant waterfront destination.
